Ivan Vindheim was appointed as the new CEO of Mowi ASA. Windheim succeeds Alf-Helge Aarskog (52 years old), who decided to resign after nearly 10 years as CEO.
The appointment takes effect on November 12, 2019.
“I am glad that Ivan accepted this challenge. We had a thorough recruitment process during which the Board was looking for the best candidate to advance Mowi in the future. Ivan has extensive commercial experience and the best qualifications to implement our corporate strategy. It also represents continuity, ”says Ole Eirik Leroy, Chairman of the Board.
Vindheim has been Mowi’s CFO since 2012. He has extensive experience in the seafood industry and has held various executive positions, including the position of CFO at Lerøy Seafood. Vindheim holds a Master of Business and a Master of Business Administration from the Norwegian School of Economics, and is also an authorized public accountant and certified European financial analyst.
“I am honored that I have been given the opportunity to lead Mowi with more than 14,500 highly qualified colleagues. It is with humility that I take on this task. Mowi is the world’s leading aquaculture company, and we have many opportunities ahead. Mowi’s Board of Directors strategy – to be a leading integrated seafood supplier – remains unchanged, and with the rest of the organization, I look forward to continuing to make Mowi a stronger company and pursuing our strategy. Alf Helge has been a great leader and colleague for many years, and I would also like to take this opportunity to thank him for such a valuable contribution, ”says Ivan Vindheim.
Alf Helge Aarskog has been CEO of Mowi since July 19, 2010 and has played an important role in positioning Mowi as the world’s leading seafood company. One of the key achievements during his leadership was the creation of his own fish feeding operations, Mowi, a significant increase in value added processing, a significant increase in agricultural production and, most recently, the launch of the company’s branding strategy. During this period, Mowi brought stellar earnings to shareholders.
“I am very glad that Ivan is taking the lead, and I would like to congratulate the Board on the excellent hiring. The selection of an internal candidate also ensures continuity and should convince everyone connected with the company that the business is in the most capable hands. “I would like to thank all my colleagues over the years for your passion and inspiration, and I wish you the best of luck in continuing the“ Lead the Blue Revolution, ”says Aarskog.
“Alf Helge has turned Mowi into a leading food-based seafood company with leading positions in genetics, feed, agriculture, sales and consumer products. The strategic choices made over the years have turned Mowi into a strong company with an emphasis on developing the salmon category. Aarskog is a true salmon farmer and he spreads enthusiasm and passion for salmon throughout our global organization, ”says Leroy.
Christian Ellingsen, director of group accounting, has been appointed as the new CFO of Mowi. Ellingsen (39) has been in his current role in Mowi for 4 years. Prior to joining Mowi, he was a director at PwC, where he worked for almost 10 years. Ellingsen received a master’s degree from the Norwegian School of Economics and a bachelor’s degree in computer science from the University of Bergen. He is also an authorized state accountant.
“I am very pleased that Christian became the financial director of Mowi. Christian is very talented and has deep knowledge about the company and organization. This provides momentum from day one as well as continuity, ”says Vindheim.
